Lighting of the Villahermosa Palace Thyssen Museum.

Ornamental

Fundación Thyssen – Fundación Endesa

2009

The Villahermosa Palace is an architectural jewel from the 18th century. Originally built as an aristocratic residence, it has undergone several transformations over the centuries. In 1992, it was restored and adapted to house the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum collection, and today it is one of the most important cultural landmarks in the city.

The proposal consisted of highlighting the granite elements of the façade with a line of light, avoiding projection lighting. Since the palace is located in a very central and well-lit area of the city, the idea for enhancing it within its surroundings was not to compete in brightness, but to use light sources with a very cool color temperature—a bluish white—that would make it stand out visually among the neighboring buildings.

Work carried out: Exterior lighting design and technical direction.
