Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid)

2021

Monographic exhibition of the textile and graphic work of the artist Charlotte Johannesson, pioneer of the conceptual synchrony between classical languages and computer programming.

Retrospective exhibition dedicated to Charlotte Johanneson as the creator of her own language resulting from the connection between physical and digital weaving based on the binary character of the creations on the loom and on the computer, associating weft and warp with zeros and ones.
The exhibition included textiles from her early period and 20 new textiles generated from digital designs from the 1970s, thus closing a cycle of intrinsic relationships and influences between the artist's textile and digital work.

At the same time, her creative process was shown through the exhibition of works on paper and large-format digital projections in which the experimental drift of the images, her research into colour and the computerised production technique could be observed.

Work carried out: Rental, installation and programming of audiovisual equipment. Production and assembly.

Photographs: José Luis de la Parra.
