Lighting of the San Pascual Convent Church.

A church belonging to Spain’s National Heritage, in a Neoclassical style, built in the 18th century by order of King Charles III and designed by the architect Marcelo Fontón. Its Latin-cross floor plan culminates in the main altar, where the painting by the Neoclassical artist and theorist Anton Raphael Mengs is located. Although endowed with significant natural light, this is diminished by the limited height of the central nave.

Indirect lighting installed on the cornices of the transept and main chapel allows for a subtle reading of the architectural morphology. This illumination is balanced with the lighting placed on the lower plane, avoiding any distortion of the proportions. The lighting gradient increases towards the main focal point, the high altar. For the nave, a lateral lighting scheme was proposed, accompanied by an additional indirect component, ensuring a sufficient level of illuminance throughout the space.
