Installation of the Mirror and Kingdom / Ornament and State exhibition. Álvaro Perdices

Exhibition production

Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (Móstoles, Madrid)

2022

Installation by the artist Álvaro Perdices that proposed a confrontation between the notions of construction and deconstruction of institutional spaces and their relationship with the individual.

This exhibition is the result of an exercise in research and critical revision of the evolution of the concept of kingdom and state that arose as a result of the dismantling of the Salón de los Reinos for its conversion into the new rooms of the Prado Museum. The installation had three layers breaking down the stages of the building's crisis, as an archive and visual device (royal, military and archaeological), in contrast to a central mirrored piece containing a sculptural group created with furniture produced in the cabinetmaking workshops of the Ocaña I Penitentiary Centre, as a memorial to the political prisoners of the Dictatorship.

Work carried out: Production and assembly of museography, lighting and audiovisual materials.

Photographs: José Luis de la Parra.
